May. 6th, 2004 -- Witnesses onboard Superman Ride of Steel during its fatal accident Saturday claimed the restraints were not checked before the train departed the station.Park visitor Faith Thomas, who rode behind 55-year-old Stanley Mordarsky, said his restraint was not down all the way. She said she tried holding onto Mordarsky as he was flung out of the roller coaster in its final turn. "I grabbed the waist belt area of his pants and thought, 'No, no, no,'" Thomas said. She said the ride hosts did not check the restraints and just left it up to the guests. Spokeswoman for Six Flags New England, Mary Ann Burns said about ride hosts: "It's a very comprehensive, very thorough training."
