Jun. 29th, 2004 -- LAKE GEORGE, NY, June 29, 2004 – Just one week after celebrating its 50th anniversary, The Great Escape will commemorate America’s 228th birthday with a spectacular fireworks display on Saturday, July 3 at 9:45 p.m. (weather permitting). The explosive extravaganza will feature patriotic red, white and blue fireworks to celebrate our country’s heritage, as well as those in shades of silver and gold to commemorate the park’s 50th Anniversary season.

Originating from the North Woods Picnic Grove area, the fireworks will
light up the evening sky and will be visible to patrons throughout the
entire park. The second in a string of four fireworks displays
celebrating the milestone year in The Great Escape’s history, this
particular display will last for 15 minutes, capping off the perfect end
to a day at one of America’ s oldest and most historic theme parks.

Presented by Alonzo Fireworks Displays Inc., one of the world’s most
renowned pyrotechnic companies, the show will feature a mix of
crisscrossing fireworks, various pattern fireworks, and multi-color
fireworks tailored to suit the celebratory mood. Having supplied displays for such big name events as the 2000 Closing Olympic Celebrations in Sydney, Australia; Paul McCartney’s World Tour; The Miss America Pageant; and Disney’s Rock in Rockets, the fireworks at The Great Escape will add to the company’s explosive resume.

The General Use admission price for those over 48 inches is $33.99 (plus tax). Admission for those 48 inches and under is $19.99 (plus tax). After 4 p.m., admission is $17 (plus tax).

As part of its yearlong golden anniversary celebration, The Great Escape will host two other fireworks shows on July 24 and August 14. Both shows get underway at 9:45 p.m., weather permitting.

The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom first opened its gates on June 27, 1954, under the moniker Storytown USA. The park started out as a 5-acre single-themed park revolving around the familiar nursery rhymes of Mother Goose. But over time the park would flourish, adjusting to suit a diverse audience. To date the park covers more than 140-acres with 125 rides, shows, and attractions.
