Jun. 29th, 2004 -- LAKE GEORGE, NY, June 29, 2004 – Just one week after celebrating its 50th anniversary, The Great Escape will commemorate America’s 228th birthday with a spectacular fireworks display on Saturday, July 3 at 9:45 p.m. (weather permitting). The explosive extravaganza will feature patriotic red, white and blue fireworks to celebrate our country’s heritage, as well as those in shades of silver and gold to commemorate the park’s 50th Anniversary season.Originating from the North Woods Picnic Grove area, the fireworks will The General Use admission price for those over 48 inches is $33.99 (plus tax). Admission for those 48 inches and under is $19.99 (plus tax). After 4 p.m., admission is $17 (plus tax). As part of its yearlong golden anniversary celebration, The Great Escape will host two other fireworks shows on July 24 and August 14. Both shows get underway at 9:45 p.m., weather permitting. The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom first opened its gates on June 27, 1954, under the moniker Storytown USA. The park started out as a 5-acre single-themed park revolving around the familiar nursery rhymes of Mother Goose. But over time the park would flourish, adjusting to suit a diverse audience. To date the park covers more than 140-acres with 125 rides, shows, and attractions.
