News: Dragster riders injured by flying debris

By BryanWood

Jul. 13th, 2004 -- Four people were injured on Cedar Point's record-breaking roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster, on Monday. Shards of metal began to fly after the train rolled over a frayed metal cable.

Some of the riders were reported to be burned by an oily substance. One injured person was struck in the chest by a piece of metal. Dragster is indefinitely closed while the Sandusky, Ohio amusement park looks at the situation.

This is the second time this month Dragster has been closed. The roller coaster experienced a high amount of downtime in 2003, its first season.
