Jul. 19th, 2004 -- LAKE GEORGE, N.Y., July 19, 2004 – The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom will host the third in a series of celebratory fireworks displays on Saturday, July 24, as part of its yearlong 50th Anniversary celebration. Fireworks will kick off at 9:45 p.m., weather permitting.Provided by famed pyrotechnics specialist Alonzo Fireworks Display, Inc. the distinctive exhibition will showcase criss-crossing fireworks, pattern fireworks, and several multi-color combinations all in commemoration of the milestone season. The fireworks display is free to park guests with their paid admission to The Great Escape. There is also a special after 4 p.m. admission price of $17, plus tax. The Great Escape officially celebrated its 50th Anniversary on June 27, 2004, with a birthday bash that included the return of park creator Charles R. Wood, the participation of park mainstay Marshal Wild Windy Bill McKay, and loads of birthday cake. Wood originally opened Storytown USA as a single-themed amusement park dedicated to the popular nursery rhymes of Mother Goose.
