News: Oaks Amusement Park faces lawsuit

By Ryan

Jul. 29th, 2004 -- A disgruntled father seeks $180,000 from Oaks Amusement Park, claiming that his daughter was injured on one of their attractions.

14-year-old Kathryn E. James visited Oaks Park on June 19 and reportedly suffered injuries while riding the Looping Thunder roller coaster. Her father, Brian K. James, claims that her restraint was too loose and as a result she suffered (among other things) torn muscles, headaches and muscle spasms.

Brian also claims that Kathryn notified the ride operator about the problem before riding but he ignored her and allowed the ride to operate. After the ride was over, a crying Kathryn was transferred to the park infirmary where she waited for 90 minutes until her mother came to pick her up.
