Offbeat: Cedar Point trip puts juror in trouble

By Aaron

Aug. 12th, 2004 -- A trip to Cedar Point has become more then just a fun time to David Coulson of Erie County, Pennsylvania after he skipped jury duty to go to the park.

Coulson was chosen on Monday to be a juror in a lawsuit against a chemical company, and said nothing when jurors were asked if the trial posed any scheduling conflicts, as Coulson planned the trip on Tuesday. Coulson later told Judge William Cunningham of his plans, who wrote a letter to the park asking them to refund Coulson's money for the trip. When Cedar Point didn't return the money, Coulson decided to go.

Cunningham told Coulson he must report for 10 days of jury duty in September, or face time in jail.
