News: Foreign staff protest treatment at SFNE

By Aaron

Sep. 13th, 2004 -- Turkish student Muharrem Yasar intended to work at a beachside resort this summer, but found himself at Six Flags New England. While working there, he complains that the park treated him and other international workers far worse then American employees. Yasar was fired after he grabbed the rearview mirror of a park bus that was returning him to his dormitory. Yasar claimed that the driver abused foreign workers and drove off without them, while the park called the incident a severe safety problem.

There have been other such cases. Brazilian worker Amanda Pessoa says that the park forced foreign employees to use separate entrances than Americans and denied them bathroom breaks. Many others have told similar stories.

Six Flags New England denies any wrongdoing and states that most foreign employees are very happy with the program.
