Sep. 17th, 2004 -- A leisure company that operates Brighton Pier in England admitted to putting roller coaster riders at risk back in 2002. They allowed the Turbo coaster to operate with a 16-foot piece of track missing.

Luckily the ride operator noticed that the track was missing and was able to E-stop the ride, leaving 8 passengers stranded on the ride before they reached that point. The prosecutor in the case says the company did not take the proper steps to make sure the ride did not operate and did not provide any warning signs that the track was missing.
