News: Disney World union conflict over

By Aaron

Nov. 19th, 2004 -- Last night, Disney World workers ended eight months of disputes, negotiations, and strike threats by approving a new three-year contract.

The vote affects around 22,000 of the park's workers in six different unions that have banded together to form a single negotiating force. The final tally was 3,771 for the new proposal and 2,669 opposed. This contract will ensure pay raises and increase health care premiums.

However, the negotiations have damaged relationships between the six unions. During the talk period, one of the unions filed complaints against four others and the heads of four unions were heckled by members of the other two.
