News: Italian Job construction update

By Byron

Dec. 15th, 2004 -- Land clearing and ground modifications are continuing at Paramount's Kings Island in preparation for the new Italian Job: Stunt Track roller coaster. ThrillNetwork affiliate PKI Central has aerial pictures of the work area and construction progress.

Land clearing on the former site of the Antique Cars has begun, and trenches and pits are beginning to form in the shape of the ride.

PKI Central also has a classic video from 1985 that shows the park's late Winterfest holiday celebration. The video documents many of the elements of the celebration including the shows, ice skating and the lighting of the magnificent tree.

Italian Job: Stunt Track is a LIM-launched ride built by Maryland-based Premier Rides. The ride will have a top speed of 40 mph and will feature many exciting twists, turns and explosions as riders fly along the track in trains shaped like MINI Coopers. The ride is scheduled to open in 2005 at Paramount's Kings Island.
