News: Kingda Ka about to be topped off

By Aaron

Jan. 6th, 2005 -- One of the most anticipated coasters of 2005 is about to pass a milestone-and it isn't even open yet. As early as next week, workers at Six Flags Great Adventure will top off Kingda Ka by installing the highest piece of track.

Not only will the topping off make Kingda Ka the world's tallest coaster at 456 feet, but it also signifies that the ride is close to completion. The amusement park says that more work remains on Kingda Ka, but the coaster itself is almost finished.

Although the park is closed to the public and there is a lack of viewing spaces in the area surrounding the park, there are some nearby spots that coaster enthusiasts are keeping an eye on. Six Flags has not announced a date for the topping-off, saying the weather will determine when the event happens.
