News: Universal facing suit over Taser gunsBy Aaron |
Feb. 16th, 2005 -- The controversy over Taser stun guns has spread to theme parks. Last October, 45-year-old Christopher Traub, who suffers from a disability, visited Universal Orlando with his family and was shot by a security officer with a Taser gun, causing several injuries. Traub says he is considering legal action against the park. Traub says he was in line with his son, trying to reason with an off duty police officer working as a park security guard, who was trying to throw his son out of the park. Traub then claims the officer shot him with a Taser, which threw him into a drink stand and gave him several cuts on his head. Universal, which often hires off duty police officers as security patrols, says it has no intention of changing its policy regarding Tasers. The Orlando Police Department called the action legal and will not take any action against the officer. Visit Florida Today for more. |
