News: Great Adventure to fight parking taxBy BryanWood |
Apr. 28th, 2005 -- The parking tax bill was written so narrowly that the law, if passed, would only apply to Six Flags Great Adventure. Local school officials are pushing for the bill to be passed because it would bring in an estimated $500,000 to their budget annually. They also claim that Six Flags Great Adventure doesn't not pay full property taxes because they won a legal fight in 1990 that classifies the park as moveable. That classification makes them not subject to full taxation. A local tax auditor said that Great Adventure paid $3.3 million in property taxes alone last year.
