I just attended a special sneak preview of the new show "School of Rock" tonight at Paramount’s Carowinds. I went into the show with somewhat low expectations but it is a Paramount show. I was wrong; the show basically rocked from beginning to end!
I was a little worried at first when the band started the first song. I thought it was kind of average until I realized it was part of the show. It was after that the band really kicked in and rocked!
The song selection for the show was awesome; a lot of my favorite songs were featured. The cast was incredible, but a down side was that cast tonight will not be the cast for the season. The group was a real country band that is currently touring. I never got the band’s name but they were awesome. I just hope Carowinds can find some talent that good. The show will be awesome with any cast in my opinion.
Throughout the show clips from the movie were shown to build up the show at different points. The whole storyline and plot of the show were perfect. I don’t want to give too much away so you won’t know what to expect when the public gets to see it. All I will say is to go in with high expectations and think of it as not your typical Paramount show.
I personally thought School of Rock was just as good if not better than some Disney/Universal shows. I was not expecting such a high caliber show from Paramount.
The whole feel of the show was outstanding. Lighting was just dazzling. The stage was set up very nicely. It was just like being at a real rock concert, but sadly it only lasted 30 minutes.
The show had great special effects and lots of pyrotechnics towards the end of the show. I would suggest that everyone see this show if they are at the park or even in my opinion I would make a special trip to the park just to see the show.
All in all I was over impressed. I was not expecting such a high quality, high energy show with such an outstanding cast. My overall rating of the show from 1 through 10 would be an 11.
In my opinion, this is the best show that Carowinds has ever had.
