Disney's California Adventure's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

It has been officailly announced that DCA will infact be getting it's own version of the Hugely successful ride located at the Disney-MGM Studios park in Florida.

Click on the pics for a larger versions (I just love HTML) but the big picture just sucks for the concept art.

The second pic is a lot better IMO.

I'm excited about this, It may take about 24 months for me to ride it, but it's all good because I know it will be great. I LOVE how it looks, it's like a Spanish Mission Inn/Mediterranean Revival, which a lot of older California buildings look like. I love Art Deco and Spanish style buildings so this is perfect fo me. I'm glad it won't be pink because it's not that great of a color. I would like to see it a nice Tan color, but not pink. Sadly they can always change it to Pink at any second. The F-ToT looks creepy and it invites feelings of insecurity and just makes you feel creepy, like a horror movie. C-ToT looks like it's just a hotel and gives that false sense of security that is apptly shattered with each scream that emits from the elevators descending one of the three Tower shafts, truly Twight Zone type of stuff. C-ToT looks a lot more innocent and to me it's a lot more exciting. C-ToT will basically be the same as it's Florida counterpart except there definetly will be three drop shafts, and the Arcitecture. Barry Braverman, The Senior VP and Executive Producer of WDI, said, "We will board an elevator and during our ascent to the top of the Tower we will experience two inexplicable and mysterious transformations before we will reach the top and the doors open and we peer out a gaping hole in the elevator and look down on Hollywood below before we plummet earthward faster than gravity itself."

    On to the rumors!
It is heavily rumored that the 5th Demension Roll through will not happen. But as BB said, there will be TWO Transformations before the drop so there is definetly something going to be there wether it be the roll thorugh 5th, or something completly different.

Those are awesome pics! It looks like most of the ride is going to be the same as MGM's ToT, which is good, the ride is one of the best around. When they say "Two transformations", I'm guessing that they mean the two elevator stops before the drops like in MGM's ToT: The first being the disa[[earing corridor scene with the ghosts, the second being the "5th dimension".

That building doesn't look like it has the run-down feel of our MGM ride. Never-the-less it's one helluva a ride, you guys enjoy it!

I'm just glad that it will not be an exact clone of the Florida version. It shows that the Disney execs are just all caught up on pushing attendance and such.

Won't it also be a hotel with a MTV Fear type of thing happening? I heard that there were going to be evening activities planned and such. Does anyone know if this is still on?

Looks nice. What I have heard is this will be a "lite" version with less effects then in WDW.

That had to be one of the best rumors i have EVER heard, but sadly it is not true. If you've noticed, Disney has been cheaping out on Cali, what the reasons are for this i could not say, maybe it's for all the imporvments for DL's 50th or if they just need the money, or are just getting greedier and decided not to spend so much. Disney will never put up the money for an attraction of that magnatude EVER.

Ok Ok so I was wrong. WDI really wanted to do this and had it all planned out but the poor attendence of DCA dropped all hope of the Hotel/attraction from really happening. If only you people liked DCA more and actually went we would be having a Really cool experience being built right now. It was actually Micheal Eisners idea for the Florida ToT but it wouldn't have worked for it so they dropped that idea. WDI brought it back up when planning DCA and wanted it to be part of Phase II, and they worked out the kinks for the hotel and all. It's too bad really it would have been AMAZING as to what WDI coul have doon with this.

Actually, I think it would be more along the lines of:
If Disney had spent as much on attractions as it did for stores and food more people might come into DCA.

If Disny didn't charge the same price of admission for DCA as it does for DL, which has a lot more to do, more people might go (lower admission price or offer a combo one day ticket)

If Disney wasn't so busy trying to milk every guest that goes through the gate for the maximum amount of cash while spending as little as possible on them, more pepole might go.

I love Disney and it's parks, but walking around DCA isn't much different than any other corporate parks. Not a lot to do, especially for the steep admission price. And the employees in general aren't any better than other places (some didn't even know height requirements on the rides!)

If Disney wants DCA to be a success and have people come through the gate, they are going to have to spend some money on the park and it's staff. As long as it's trying to pinch it's pennies, it's never going to be able to compare to that other park accross the esplanade.

The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror at DCA is one fantastic ride. Does anybody know how the vertical motion of the elevator is controlled? Does it use cables like a regular lift? I've been wondering for a while now and I'm sure somebody here will be able to help me.

    Hey, I started this!

Obviously it's not like a regular lift, but I'm sure it's something similar in design.
