How did you watch the DVD when it isn't even released until Tuesday?

If he knows someone in a video store like Blockbuster, or one of its affiliates like Best Buy, they get the DVDs in the Friday before the release date. Not all, but usually the big release DVDs like this one. I know I've seen quite a few prior to release date on DVD because I have friends that work at my local Best Buy. Employees pick them up early.

As for a reply about the Open Water comment, it wasn't "overcoming the odds" that I wanted, I expected the overall outcome of the movie, I was just P.Oed that at the end (spoiler) she pushed her man away. Showed me that she didn't really love him that much. That's what made me mad. Even if she did choose to do what she did. As for the camera movement...the camera movement was shaky the entire movie, even before they went out into the ocean...which was like 40 minutes into the film...

I just watched "The Running Man" again, has been quite a few years since I saw it last time. The acting is (in my opinion) quite bad, but the movie is still fun to watch!

Also, my family knows that my all time favorite movie in the world is "Bambi", so the family got me the new DVD just out. What can I say...it's my favorite!! And what's great is that it still has that missing baby racoon. So, it's still the movie I first saw a long time ago!!

Just watched "The Music Man" starring Matthew Broderick. It was one of my Christmas presents that I just got around to. This was also the TV version. Its a story of a swindler coming into a small-town city claiming to have the abilities to teach the kids to play and march in a band. 76 Trombones is the noted song through this musical. I generally watch movies with subtitles on, but this made it difficult. I would rate it with the original (just haven't seen it yet).

Only problem is, I'm going to have "76 Trombones" in my head for a while.

So 3.5-4 stars out of 5 stars. The half point differential is because it wasn't the original.

Sometimes stores even accidentally release them too early. A few weeks ago I picked up The Shield seasonn 3 on DVD on a Friday night. I could've sworn at the time it wasn't supposed to be out until the next week Tuesday. Sure enough, I checked the ads that came out later that weekend and it was supposed to be released later and not when I bought it.

She didn't really push him away, rather just let him go which was symbolic. He had died of his injury and she did that as a way of letting him go. Of course at that point it didn't matter since she did what she did in the movie shortly after letting him go. It wasn't as if she did that trying to save herself. She knew at that moment she was doomed as well.

    Yesterday I watched Changing Lanes

What I expected to be an intense thriller turned into a well done charecter driven drama.

Not being a fan of Ben Afflek, I didn't have much hope for his performance. But he actually did a decent job (this was before Gili though) He kind of reminds me of the charecter Tom Cruise played in Rain Man.

You hate him at the start of the movie, then he slowly changes by the end.

Samuel L Jackson was great as always.

At one point though I had to think, both of these guys are jerks, why should I care about either one of them?

Of course they twist it back at the end so that every thing ends nice and happy and everone becomes a nice person.

Overall a nice movie, some small plot holes that bugged me and a too nicely wrapped up ending IMO. 4 out of 5 stars.

I also recently watched Changing Lanes. It was another one of those movies I have in my DVD collection but hadn't actually watched yet. It was pretty good until the ending. It did wrap up too nicely in my opinion. I don't see how they could have gone through everything they did and to each other and could still be so hospitable to each other when they meet at the end. I guess it was nice to see that everything turned out ok for them but I wouldn't say it was believable. I think they wouldv'e gotten into some major trouble with the law with everything they did during the course of the day.

    Overall 6/10

It was tense and intersting through most of it but lost a lot of it as the movie went on and especially towards the very end.

    **SPOILER**

I did like though at the end where he blackmales his father-in-law with the folder and at that point you know he has no way to get around him.

    **SPOILER OVER**

Even though I never saw the movie or read the book, it kind of reminded me of The Firm. With the dirty lawyers thing going on.

i saw robots last night and was severely dissapointed. the reviews were great for the movie, but it was just a dumb movie. almost all the jokes were fart jokes and robin williams was WAY!!! overused. ewan mcgregor cant do an animated voiceover worth crap, hes a good actor but sucks at this sort of thing. amanda bynes was good and i also liked drew carrey's performance, as well as that old lady with the big butt in the movie (dont remember her name). the storyline also pretty much sucked, the ending sucked, and i would not reccommend it for anyone but kids

    robots - 4/10

just saw Donnie Darko. And I liked it up until the end. It had some loose ends that confused me. I've heard so many good reviews about it, but the ending just let me down. Still, not a bad film. 3/5

Just saw Without A Paddle. What can i say about this move?

It had maybe one funny part and about 99 stupid parts. Not a good movie at all imo although the ending was somewhat intresting.

I gave it 2 stars out of 10.

I havn't seen it in awhile, but I just bought it and havn't found the time yet to watch it. I like the concept of it, but like you said it seems like there's open ends. The "cult" following of this movie (I say that very lossely, because its not a real cult following) annoys me because they act like it has the best plot ever.

To me the movie comes off as trying to make itself so confusing you think that it makes sense.

Edit: Oppse I forgot to add my two most rescent watched movies.

    Jurassic park 3

In the past few weeks I finally bought the Jurassic park movies. Let me first say I'm glad I bypassed the horrible merchandise ploy with the box set. Seriously why is the box set like 50-60 bucks when the single DVDs are on the best buy discount rack at 10 bucks a pop.

Anyways. After watching JP3 twice in the past week I have formed my oinions on the JP set. To me it seems like the movies are going in the direction of the Jaws series.

The orginal had a formula that worked great, but in the following sequals they keep trying to spice up the story with something new, and to me it fails miserably. How can you have a dinosaur movie where the Rex only has like a 3 minute scene and thats all?! Granted its a pretty cool scene, but it doesn't change the fact that te Trex should of played a more signifigant role! It seems like the only dinosaurs that had a part in the movie were the spineosaurous (is this a real dinosaur??) and the raptors.

The pacing of the movie also seems a little too fast. The overall length of the movie is about 30 mins shorter than the other two but it seems like they were still trying to fit the same amount of stuff in the movie.

Overall, the movie is "fun" but a big step down from the caliber of the orginal. I'll give it bonus points though for including a lot of things from the first JP book.

    2.5/5

    Eight Legged Freaks

Ok, I'm keeping this one short cause I'm tired and want to go to bed.

This movie rocks! If you want a modern cheesey Sci Fi flick this is it. I could watch this movie over and over and it would hold its entertainment value. More movies like this need to come out!

    4/5

Hasn't the Star Wars preview been out for a long time now? Or is this a new trailer for it. If it is, I'm surprised that it comes this late, only a couple months before the release. The last two movies, didn't the previews come to theaters about five to six months before the release of the movie itself? Although I, myself haven't seen a trailer for it at the theater, just online and on TV during shows like Entertainment Tonight when they showed it and also on the news during the entertainment portion.

You never said what you thought. I also bought this special edition. I would've liked it had it been packaged nicer instead of just giving another disc with the original movie. But you can't beat getting a free ticket. Anyways, I thought Rings was good and very well done for a short film. It had a couple scary and/or tense moments in it.

For those who don't know what Rings is about. It's a story set after the events of the first Ring movie. A group of high school or possibly college kids take turns watching the tape so they can experience it. One person watches it and has a buddy set to watch it after them to save them. In the first movie The Ring, it was explained that if you watch the movie, you will die in exactly "seven days". The only way to save yourself is to make a copy and have someone watch it. So in this movie Rings, that what the kids do. You watch the tape and then try and last as long as you can before having the next person watch it. Of course, in the seven days they experience all types of scary events and they try to hold on as long as they can. It was actually pretty interesting.

I watched the incredibles on dvd. I saw it once in the theater before. This movie is just so good. I wasn't expecting too much of it but it just blew me away. The shorts that are included on the two discs are great and add extra value to a movie that is already very well done.

I walked into the theater which had a modest number of people in it, I'd guess about 50. Thinking about it, it's actually impressive since the movie has been out for a few months now. Of course winning the Oscar for Best Picture, I shouldn't have been suprised that many people were there to see Million Dollar Baby. I hadn't seen it yet but had wanted to for a while. I thought this movie would be great and I was right. I thought this would be an uplifting happy movie....and I was wrong.

Lets not be mistaken, this was a great film and the acting is great. The movie starts with Maggie (Hilary Swank) convincing Frankie (Clint Eastwood) to train her and eventually her manager. Does Frankie train her out of sympathy, wanting to have a champion or simply because he fills a void that is left by his daughter not being in his life or is it all of the reasons?

She starts to become a great fighter with natural ability that even surprises Frank. She makes her way towards the top but problems get in the way. She has a family that puts her down, doesn't care and is altogether ungrateful for her. Maggie has an innocence about her desptite everything around her. Things take a sad turn for everyone involved. This is wsnt what I was expecting. I won't give it away for those who haven't seen it yet. There are huge decisions that have to be made by Maggie and by Frankie. Is it the right thing to do and can they bring themselves to do it?

This was certainly a powerful film. I think it deserved the Oscar and I'm happy it won. I think most of the people in the theater must have felt the same way. There isn't a lot you can say by the end of the film and you're left to think about what happened.

There may have only been 50 people in the theater but I've never seen or heard 50 people so silent while leaving.

    Million Dollar Baby 9/10

I watched "What the #$*! Do We Know?!" in a class on Thursday. It is absolutely one of the worst "movies" I've ever seen. It's played out like a documentary with a little bit of storyline. I find it incredibly absurd. It's about quantum physics, which isn't exactly a science. It's more of a theory based on ideas people came up with that has no real backing evidence.

At least that's what I got out of this terrible dreck. Most of it makes no sense. It's all about the subatomic level and how that effects our everyday life. They come up with theories that because atoms are mostly nothing, then everything must be nothing. We only imagine them into existance.

For example, if you were to trip over a rock, does that rock really exist? You tripped over it, so you imagined a rock was really there. What if you didn't trip over it? Would the rock still be there?

Absurd! Of course the rock's there! They're just falling back on the tree-in-the-woods thing. This movie is lame philosophy with a bit of what I'd call atheist propaganda -- that's mostly from a segment in which they spoke of God. One woman who was some spiritual guide or something claimed everyone was God because we sin, and God's so powerful that we can't sin against God. Or something. She lost me when she said everyone was God.

In short, it's a terrible movie that makes no sense and comes up with made-up theories to prove things no one cares about. 2/10. The special effects were neat, and the lady in the leading role was pretty.

Just watched Robots this weekend because my little cousins from the Carolina's were down.

The movie was decent, mostly based on dry and cheap humor that was kept mostly clean except for that fart joke. It carried a strong message like any other family movie and of course, the CGI is magnificent. The movie gets a 4/5 for me.

    Oh, then the other reason to see this;

    Star Wars Ep. III Trailer;
Yes, this has been on my MUST SEE list. Looks well done and Jar Jar binks goes away, Annakin (sp? needs to see Ep I & II again) finally goes dark. 4.5/5, sheer awesomeness.

    Ice Age 2 thingy;
Alright, there was also another thing of that prehistoric squirrel going after a nut. Like any good thing, its cut in half and says "TO BE CONTINUED", thats it, no Ice Age 2 coming 200x. So we assumed that it would finish after the credits. So after sitting through 7 minutes of credits, the screen goes blank as usual and were gypped. 2/5, Half credit and an alright short.

i thought robots is the worst animated movie of all time, it was so boring, all the jokes were stupid (except when "right thurr" came on and the robot did the robot), there was little to no action and the end scene where they danced made me question my sexuality cause it really made me feel gay

    robots 3/10

and jarjar binks wasnt in episode 2 for the record (maybe one or two lines)

Beginning of the baseball season marks two traditions that must be done. The viewing of both Major League and Major League II.

What I found most interesting about both movies is that the first was rated R, yet the sequel was PG. The movies, made in 1989 and 1994, chronicle the woes of the then-sucking Cleveland Indians. New ownership threatens to move them to Miami (hey wait a sec, didn't current ownership at the time move a certain NFL team to Baltimore??), of course the only requirement is a losing season, dead last. With a group of players past their prime and one ex-con, obviously winning a game would be a miracle.

It's not really the players that makes the movies, but rather Harry Doyle, the Indians broadcaster. Harry, played by Bob Uecker (current Milwaukee Brewer's broadcaster), has quite a few quips that keep many Indians fans laughing now.

and jarjar binks wasnt in episode 2 for the record (maybe one or two lines)

Ok, genius, why did you post a review for this movie twice? Your previous post had a 4/10. Now it dropped to a 3/10. I thought Robots was good. Just looking at Robin Williams's robot made me want to laugh. Plus the farting sequence with Aunt Fannie was funny.

On Friday night I watched this movie for the first time called THE CURE. It was made in 1994 or 1995. It was actually quite a good movie, a tad bit emotional lol. It's about this guy who is best friends with a kid a few years younger than him who has Aids. Then they read a newspaper article that a doctor has found a cure for Aids in New Orleans so they run away from home and are on a little piece of wood as they float down the mississipi river.

On Saturday night, there was a battle between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi or Waterworld. I made the smart decision and sided with Star Wars. I hadn't seen that episode in a while, and its my favourite one of the 5...
