Thread: Six Flags Great America or Six Flags Great Adventure?

  1. #1
Which of the two parks do you all think is the best? For me this is a hard pick because they're both good parks with great rides.

Great Adventure is the best, IMO. They have Nitro, Medusa, and The Chiller. Great America has Raging Bull and Deja Vu, but they don't have a floorless. They do have a good woodie (Viper), which is something Great Adventure does not have.

I think Great America, due to a greater number of awsome coasters.

    Great America all the way

Great adventure, there rides are always top rides, even the old ones (great american scream machine) which was the tallest fastest looping coaster when it came out in 1989...also, nitro, chiller, medusa, and batman is pretty hard to top.

If you want pain you can also hit Rolling Thunder!Woo hoo. Two rides in a row about only four or five cuts on my legs. Only one or two bruises.

Great America- and don't even use the dumb Nitro argument.

I wonder how people can KNOW that the rides are better att SFGAM or vice versa without going on them. These kind of topics suck.
Just in case you know, Shockwave at SFGAM (which GASM is nearly a clone of), debuted in 1988 as the Tallest in the world. (Even though Japan had taller). Batman(which SFGradv's is a clone of), debuted in 1992.

Raging Bull, Viper, Batman, v2 are also hard to top.

Question? What makes Gradv's ride collection any better than SFGAM's? I bet no one can really answer that question.

  12. #12
It kind of depends on what you like...if you really like wooden coasters, then I would say it easily goes to SFGAM. Viper and American Eagle look reasonably better than Rolling Thunder IMO. However, if it comes to steel coasters, I would give the edge to SFGADV. I'm not sure how many flat rides SFGAM. has, but I know Great Adventure has a lot. I've also heard that SFGAM.'s crowds are usually not as bad. It all depends on what you like and what annoys you...

  13. #13
    id say SFGADV,
the chiller is tight, medusa is tight, and great american scream machine is a way better name than shockwave

You people are so biased!! Would someone please give SFGAM a chance?? GASM is better simply because it has a better name?? Even though its almost exactly like Shockwave! The only thing you have that SFGAM would want is Medusa and we'll probably get a floorless soon anyway.

[ This Message was edited by: Raptor on 2001-07-01 19:21 ]

    Shockwave=GASM
Batman=Batman
Raging Bull=Nitro

All Great Adventures got on SFGAM is Medusa. I heard that the chiller isnt that good. Plus SFGAM has Viper, V2, and soon Deja Vu, and Iron Wolf.

I know that ive never been to gdav but gam seems to be better.

    Advantages of SFGAdv:

Medusa, and mine train

Advantages of SFGAm:

Iron Wolf, Whizzer, Viper

If you like stand-ups, SFGAM is better.
If you like floorless, SFGADV is better.

They both have a good selection of flat rides, so you can't base it on that.

SFGAdv has a more complex layout, but not so bad it's a disadvantage.

Disadvantages of SFAdv:
Only a 1st generation Intamin freefall
A pathetic Viper (compared to SFGAM)
Lacks a stand-up.

Disadvantages of SFGAm:
Overbraked woodie (AE)
Lacks a floorless.
I can, they have alot more rides. How much would you have bet on that!
2nd, You are using that old clone thing again. You have some clones of other rides that you didn't have first like V2 and Deja Vu, your newest rides. Accually it is better to have newer clones because from a picture Batman The ride was missing some wheel covers. So don't go around saying SFGADV doesn't take good care of Rolling Thunder because they don't take care of Batmen: The ride.
I hope mods don't lock this again so anyone who wants to chalenge SFGAM over SFGADV. Instant Message me on AOL my address is Medusa1861.
One more thing, you said that one of them was Batman, in case you forgot we have one two. Batman & Robin The Chiller is way better then V2 especially when Robin comes back

Not you again. Watch this topic get closed because you got angry.

I can't say that much about SFGradv, because I haven't visited(until Jul 13). You can't say much about SFGAM, because you've never been.

Also, more rides does not mean better, if that were true, Six Flags Astroworld would be better than BGW. SFGradv has about 8 more rides than SFGAM. The same amount of coasters. Raging Bull and Viper are on the top 25 lists of wood and steel respectively. SUE is also on the top 25, whether you like it or not. And this is the prestigious Golden Ticket award list. Medusa is on it and I'm sure Nitro will make it this year also.

goonsta is really the only person I like on all these forums.

And Medusa1816 is really the only person I hate on this forum. He always has to start a war and he even said himself he has never been on Nitro. And then i start makin fun of him and then all his SFGADV. friends back him up because theyre queers.

SFGAM IS WAY BETTER.

Ok some one please Instant message me!! Medusa1861,
From this other topic you said something about a collection, SFGADV has all those rides that SFGAM has now that the tilt a whirl thing is gone.
What really annoys me is that you guys always mention about wizzler, Skull Mountain is like it's competitor, alot of you forget that SFGADV has Skull Mountain, it is really acualy fun, not scary but it is fun, the first drop really feals good and the rest of the ride is fun.
Please im MEDUA1861 to continue this thing without having it locked!!!!!!!!!
iF YOU HATE ME WHY DON't we just see who can keep there park up in a kinda debate thing.

I have never been to SFGADV but I can say SFGAM is an awesome park. It has some great coasters and many firsts in the theme park industries.

Raging Bull- First hyper twister.

Batman- The original, more intense than it's clones.

V2- The tallest V2 according to the coaster database at This Page Cannot Be Displayed (http://www.thispagecannotbedisplayed.net).

American Eagle- They race it quite a bit now.

Iron Wolf- Stand-up

Whizzer- The last of it's kind. Not real thrilling but it is pretty cool at night.

Shockwave- Well, what's there to say about shockwave? Same as GASM.

Demon- Nice little looping coaster.

Deja Vu- Not open yet, but supposedly will be soon.

Spacely Sprockets Rockets- Never rode this one as it's a kiddie coaster, but if you are goidn with younger kids, it's very high for a kiddie coaster.

The park also has good food. The staff is great. I never noticed a whole lot of trash lying around. There are a whole lot of midway games and shows. And the arcade by the American Eagle is just sweet. I can't even begin to tell you how good the theming is in the Southwest Territories, and it's pretty good in most of the other areas. SFGAM is an all around great park.
