Knoebels kind of put themselves in a bad situation here because now they have to design the car for the track that they already invested time and money in to build. They can't design a working car first and then base the track of the car. Maybe there is a car design that works well but it won't work in the track they already have.

As far as I know, the park has really made this project a "part time" project. The head of maintenance has to build this when he has time, that means all the other rides are fixed, operating, blah blah. From what I understand they have brought in an a person that actually does build trains for roller coasters. I think we should be able to take a spin on this soon. I was there when they announced it, so I will be so thrilled to come back and finally ride it!

I still say they need to name it: Chinese Democracy: The Ride.

It's sad all these headaches made their way to Central PA. No fracking way.

Ring Racer in Germany or the Flying Turns: which is more likely to open?

Sorry to hear you have had line problems with them. Disaster Transport can get a little long, especially with air conditioning, but I won't wait more than 1/2 hr for it. The one at Kings Dominion was a walk on for me. Unfortunately the one at SFOT was closed when I was down there, and I haven't been to the one in NY state yet. Thats the only 4 currently operating in the USA.

Will you get the bobsled in NY? The rumor for the NY bobsled at The Great Escape closing after this season has come up again. Thunderhawk and I rode the Alpine Bobs last year. It looked like it needed paint, rows were closed. It looks like it needs work or it's out.

My money is on Ring Racer. Only thing is that it will not achieve the original advertised speed at all. It won't even reach 3 digits speed which is just sad considering that it used to be billed as the world's fastest roller coaster. But it never reached that speed.

The only one I'm missing is the one at SFOT, and it looks like there is a good chance I will get it this year. I agree Leo, Alpine Bobsled looked like it needed a lot of work to continue being a going concern. I have to say that this ride used to have the greatest name (Rolling Thunder) of any coaster ever, in terms of describing the ride. I actually thought there was a thunderstorm in the area with active thunder. The day was overcast and it sounds a lot like the rumble of thunder off in the distance.

My hardest earned credit is The Legend at Holiday World, first ridden 5.19.2012, exactly 1399 days after my first visit to Holiday World.

I've always wondered why it took so long for this thing to get finished... that is when it gets finished.

Knoebels announced today a drop tower is coming to the park. Stratosfear it will be called. It would be even nicer if the Flying Turns could open.

At this point, I have given up all hope of Flying Turns ever opening. Matter of fact I truly believe that a roller coaster for 2015 in a random park will open before this thing. It is time that Knoebels cut their losses.

Today Knoebels announced a small yellow submarine ride is coming for the kids.

Supposedly, according to All American Thrills, they are waiting for a test car that is the relative final product. If the testing goes fine with this and nothing happens, then the ride should open this year some time.

Before they were waiting on the right wheel assembly and now they are waiting on test cars. It is just one thing after another. I honestly don't believe this ride will ever open and even if it does, I forsee it having massive problems. Because if they can't figure out the issue after 7 years, I doubt they will fix it to the point it can run in continued operation.

Antoine, the issue has been the train, or revolved around the train. With the help of the ex-GCI dude, they hope to have made a breakthru. A LOT of modification has happened on this ride. They are constantly sending a carriage (possibly the original, modified one) through the course to make sure no other hiccups appear.

They want this open, and by golly will they make sure it opens without hiccups!

At Eastcoaster on Saturday the Knoebels people said they are waiting on some cars and expect to have them by end of February. They also detailed the money they've been spending to make it a reality.

I don't know when it is going to open, but companies tend not to throw money into something they have no intention of opening.

Knoebels presentation made no mention of Flying Turns at all. It was obviously the first question asked when they opened it up to the floor.

Hopefully they have all the right people working on it.

I would hope so, but by now the price of that ride has to be out of this world too.

No new news on Flying Turns. The freefall tower came in and was unloaded at least. It's packed like a fair model on a trailer. The cap came on another truck.

I propose they call it Chinese Democracy: The Ride and then it will open in 12 years tops.
