I have lived only an hour away from Coney Island for most of my life, but I had never visited it. Today I finally decided to go check out the "world famous" Cyclone.

We drive for an hour and get to the park at about one o'clock. We pay $5 for a ticket on the Cyclone and hop on, with no wait. I felt the ride was ... alright. It wasn't a terrible ride, but it wasn't something that really wowed me. I think it's a bit overrated with everyone saying it's "world famous" and it being on TV shows. Oh well, still a nice ride. Then I go on a flat ride called the Afterburn or something, I don't really remember. It was fun. You turn ... around, in circles and ... stuff. I don't know what model flat ride it is so I can't tell you, but I have never been on one before, and it was good.

Then we go next door from Astroland to Deno's Wonder Wheel Park to ride the Wonder Wheel. For those who don't know, it's a one of a kind ferris wheel with a twist. There are cars mounted on rails on the inside of the structure. So when it turns, you slide forward and back.
The rest of the park is kiddie rides, so we walk over to an area that's called "Coney Island Rides." There, there's an Schwarzkopf Jumbo Jet. It was nice, I've never been on one before.

I take two more rides on the Cyclone, and then we go home.

We spent a total of three hours there. It was nice, but most certainly no Six Flags that's I'm used to. It's mostly kiddie rides there, and it's very crowded, even though the queues are quick. At least I increaced my coaster count by two, and expirienced the Wonder Wheel.

[ This Message was edited by: RiFT on 2001-07-07 20:34 ]
