The Discovery Channel is about to start making a brand new documentary looking at the second golden age of wooden roller coaster construction. The programme’s going to be shown in the Spring next year and they are looking for help from Coaster enthusiasts.
We’re going to be following the building of three of the most exciting wooden Roller Coasters currently under construction in the USA – El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure, Voyage at Holiday World and the new Great Coasters Inc. Coaster at Beech Bend Park. We will also be looking at the history theme parks and wooden coasters as well as exploring the passion and sense of nostalgia people feel for these rides and this is where we’d love your assistance.
We’re really keen to speak to people who have pre 1980s home movie footage (Super 8, Super 16 etc.) of their families or themselves at theme parks that we can include in the show. Ideally we want film that shows wooden roller coasters as well as other parts of the parks but if you think that your footage might be interesting for some other reason please do get in touch and let us know more about it.
You can contact me with a brief description of the footage you have and when it dates from: richard.bradley (at) northonetv.com If you include a telephone number I can give you a call back to find out more. Don’t worry if you don’t have a VHS version we’d be really happy to get it transferred for you and we’ll make sure you get all your footage back safely.
