Site Announcements: Red Zone purchases ThrillNetwork for $500k

In a move that has been in the works for the past four months, ThrillNetwork.com has been purchased by Dan Snyder’s Red Zone for $500,000.

As part of the deal, Publisher Alex Westerman and Webmaster Steven Heicher will cede control of the site to Red Zone. From there, Red Zone will turn over the management of the site to MSN, where, starting Monday, the site will be converted to use the .NET login (Windows Live Login). Red Zone will maintain ownership of the site while cross promoting it with Six Flags, Johnny Rockets, and its other entertainment properties.

With that move, all ThrillNetwork staff, who perform site duties on a volunteer basis, will be dismissed. However, they will be offered to apply for their previous job with MSN.

"This is, without a doubt, the smallest, yet smartest, investment that will pay off the most," said Snyder. "Purchasing ThrillNetwork will allow us to tap the synergies between the site, Six Flags, and even Johnny Rockets."

Other terms have not been disclosed. Westerman and Heicher were unavailable for comment.
