11/21/2003 JACKSON, N.J. (ThrillNetwork.com) – Six Flags Winter Lights – Drive Thru Adventure, the region’s largest winter wonderland, will return for its second magical season nightly from November 14 through January 4. The expanded holiday event will feature 50 percent more light displays and new attractions such as the “Twinkle Town” walk-through experience, an ice skating rink and family train ride.
“The response to Six Flags Winter Lights’ debut last season was overwhelming,” said Bill Muirhead, Six Flags Great Adventure’s vice president and general manager, “so in true Six Flags style, we’re making this year’s experience bigger, brighter and even more magical to give our guests new reasons to visit.”
Six Flags Winter Lights features a three-mile, illuminated drive-through light show boasting more than 300 custom-made, park-inspired light displays. Six Flags Winter Lights spans 10 sections including Where’s Rudolph, winter and religious themes, Santa’s Safari, a comical look at the “12 Days of Christmas,” Santa’s Sports, Peace on Earth and more.
Approximately 80 percent of the twinkling displays will be animated (made to look like they are moving), including a new 150-foot-long display of Santa’s workshop, a 96-foot-long display of resident dolphins Sasha and Tamra diving in and out of their pool at Six Flags Dolphin Discovery, and a new, gigantic 600-foot-long display entitled “Peace on Earth” featuring 10 stunning angels.
Additional impressive pieces include a whimsical winter scene of penguins sliding down an igloo stretching 70 feet in length and three stories in height, a fantastic 87-foot long display of Santa’s reindeer, and the redesigned Santa’s Safari section with dozens of new animal displays lining the roadway and filling the trees.
As guests exit the light show, they will be directed to the Holiday Village. The newly designed Holiday Village will be located adjacent to the theme park main gate. This section will feature the new “Twinkle Town” walk-through experience, complete with sparkling lights, oversized inflatable holiday figures, a children’s maze and vendors making cauldrons of hot apple cider, freshly roasted chestnuts and gooey s’mores.
The village will also feature a new ice skating rink and miniature train display, retail store and snack shop where holiday gifts, fresh pies and hot chocolate abound. Here, guests can shop for holiday gifts and listen to carolers on select evenings, while children decorate their own holiday cookies and take pictures with Santa Claus. Parents and kids can also take a ride on the new Twinkle Town train, free with Winter Lights admission.
