The Blue Streak Challenge

It's Time to Register for the Second Annual Blue Streak Challenge!

On Monday, July 29, 2002, Conneaut Lake Park Preservation Society will host the second annual Blue Streak Challenge aboard the Blue Streak roller coaster at historic Conneaut Lake Park, Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania. The goal of this marathon is to raise funds for the continuing maintenance of this classic coaster. Riders will attempt to endure twelve hours of continuous riding on the Blue Streak, with only a few meal breaks.



The first marathon was held last July, and was the brainstorm of a couple of coaster/park enthusiasts who felt moved to 'do something' for this fine traditional amusement park. Registrants came from as far away as Maryland, New Jersey and Michigan. With a whopping 192 rides, they raised close to $3,300.00! The Society would like to see this amount doubled this year, so please check out the web site and come join us!



Can't Ride But Still Want To Help?



Proceeds from last year's Blue Streak Challenge will soon be used to give the Blue Streak a much needed coat of paint. Thanks to volunteers from ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts), NAPHA (National Amusement Park Historical Association) and the Conneaut Lake Park Preservation Society, this will take place the last three weekends in April. Painting a roller coaster is a big task, however, and we're still looking for volunteers. Conneaut Lake Park will reward your efforts with free room and board, but it's advised that you bring extra blankets, as the historic Hotel Conneaut does not have central heating.

Conneaut Lake Park is not just a vintage amusement park. With a blend of amusement rides (some, very scarce), lodging and water activities, it is a charming, historical resort destination located in northwestern Pennsylvania.
