News: Curse of DarKastle debuts

Posted at 2:25 AM EDT (0625 GMT)

May. 2nd, 2005 -- This weekend the biggest new ride at Busch Gardens Williamsburg since Apollo's Chariot opened to the public. Curse of DarKastle, a 3-D journey through the haunted Bavarian castle of King Ludwig, held a media day on Friday, with its official opening yesterday.

The ride begins with a pre-show featuring the king disposing of his dissenting advisors by sending them off on a sleigh ride and then inviting the audience into one of the sleighs. Once in the sleighs, guests embark on a chase through the castle, including a confrontation with the mad king himself.

Curse of DarKastle took about four years to plan and construct. The ride is part of the park's Oktoberfest area.

This looks like an awesome ride that I'll have to get to this summer. Did anyone go this weekend?

Well it is 19th century Bavaria. Your transportation options there in the dead of winter are kind of limited.
