MAY 6, 2005--Sandusky, OH--Cedar Point Amusement Park's latest crowd pleaser proves that good things do come in small packages. Enter maXair, a new generation Huss flat ride. In the space of about an acre, Cedar Point's planners and Huss' engineers have installed an airtime machine.
maXair, in what can only be described as both swinging and spinning action, oscillates its riders to a maximum height of 140 feet and to a maximum speed of 70 mph. The thrill ride's massive amount of air time, or zero gravity, at its apex provides riders with a unique form of weightlessness combined with disorientation. This sensation occurs because the ride continues to spin at the top of its trajectory, allowing for a unique ride for literally every seat location. One could be looking straight up or down, depending on his seat location. In a special Opening Day Eve media preview, maXair was running very efficiently with virtually no mechanical downtime. The load process appeared to be very smooth, well, as efficient as such a process can be with members of the working media. maXair has a theoretical capacity of one thousand riders per hour, with fifty riders in each two-and-a-half minute trip. Cedar Point opens for its 136th season on Saturday, May 7, 2005. Opening Day will not be entirely maXair--Cedar Point will also feature a magnificant fireworks display at 10 PM. Jeez, I can't wait to go there again! Shouldn't there be news on Hydra soon? It opens like tomorrow. At least I'll ride that and the screamin' Swing in their first season.

I can't wait to make it out to the park in August...With the lines like they were there last year, I'll be sure to get a few rides on this beast.

This is going to be the best ride at Cedar Point. I've ridden Delirium at PKI, and it's the best ride there. The G forces are really high, you get great swings and the spinning is crazy.
I can't wait to ride it.

You really can't compare apples to oranges, er coasters to flats, but this does look nice. My brother is at the park as I type this. He's with the Best Damn Band in the Land, The Ohio State University Marching Band as they are playing during opening day. Knowing him, he'll probably get on it.

I'm excited about it for sure but I think some people are blowing it out of proportion since the same ride is at PKI just a few hours southeast. I think it's a great move for Cedar Point but I don't see why people who already have been on Delirium already are acting as if for some reason this will be better.
[sniff, sniff] yep, smells like fan boyism to me. ;)
I'll actually get to ride both of these this year since I'll be at CP first this summer then later in the summer at PKI. I guess CP will get an unfair advantage since I'll ride their's first.
