When we all thought who the first robocoaster was going to, this was announced. I think that the coaster will fit the park well. Seems like it should be a fun ride.

Well, yeah, it's not a coaster, but that's the name of the ride, accurate or not.
As for whether it's the country's first Robocoaster, I'm going on this from the press release:
"First robo-coaster in the country gives riders the opportunity to choose their ride intensity"

This isn't the first one, I rode one a summer or two ago. It was only one arm though. And yes it was the same Kuka Robocoaster we're talking about here, with variable intensities and all.

Hopefully I'll be able to check this out next time I go to Cali. I don't like the water cannon idea, but it seems like fun. I've wanted to ride one of these for a while.

If you ever get the chance to ride one, DO IT! I rode one at IAAPA and it was a blast.

So does it just travel around a flat track, or is there hills and turns?

It doesnt have track... Its just a robot arm with a seat at the end.. .. You sit down and the arm moves up and down and around...
They want to sell them as real coasters and also has dark rides and on freefall towers... BUt they havent made any like that yet.
http://www.happybeagle.com/images/eu...uilder-1.jpg />thats what at a different Legoland looks like... My guess is the CA one is the same set up just outside...

How can say Superman The Excape is not a coaster, but this is? If there is no track wouldn't this fall in to the category of a flat ride?

I so knew that! I still have my lego subscription and I received a map to legoland, and #53, is the 'Knight's Tournament'. From the map it looks like there will be several arms, six as stated. That looks exciting. and to add to what James said, it WILL Be on water, as stated in the article, the watchers can shoot the riders with water cannons.

RLLrCoastrLover, this isn't really a rollercoaster, it's just a thrill ride. Robocoaster(especially the coaster part) is just the name of the ride, it doesn't mean it's really a coaster. And IMO STE isnt a coaster.
