News: New Shows at Hershey Park

Posted at 3:35 PM EDT (1935 GMT)

Jun. 3rd, 2005 -- HERSHEY, PA - If not every member of your family is a coaster lover,  it’s not a problem at Hersheypark, where all guests can enjoy more than six hours of live entertainment every day!

New for 2005 is “The Milkmen,” a production featuring four acapella male singers who travel through the Park in an authentic DIVCO milk truck. DIVCO milk trucks were built by the Detroit Industrial Vehicle Company from 1926 until 1986. The multi-stop delivery truck, that could be driven from four positions: front, rear, or either running board, became an icon of  American life. The show is a tribute to milk, a key ingredient in the world-famous Hershey’s chocolates, and features an array of classic tunes and harmonies.

Lovers of Broadway musicals will enjoy “Dance, Dance, Dance: Hollywood Dreams” in the Hersheypark Amphitheatre. This exhilarating production features singers and dancers who are pursuing their dreams of becoming a star.

If you love country music, be sure to stop by the Country Grill, where four performers sing and dance their way to toe-tapping numbers that include such hits as “Walkin’ After Midnight” and “Sweetheart.”

The beat goes on at the Music Box Theatre during “Nerds: The Musical.” Guests of all ages will enjoy watching this good-humored cast show us that it can be cool to be a nerd. Featured songs include “Holding Out For A Hero” and “Born To Run.”

In addition, The Hersheypark Green Team teaches audiences about conservation and renewable energy and Trash Time Band pumps up the volume with a pulse-pounding concert.

And that’s not all, folks! The music literally comes to you with the 2005 Hersheypark Strolling Bands: The Sand Fleas, playing favorite beach tunes; The Soda Pops, performing rock ‘n roll favorites; The Candy Wrappers, featuring five brass instruments and a percussionist; and Sonic Roots, creating their own style as they play old and new country favorites.
