News: Six Flags America Shooting

Posted at 9:55 AM EDT (1355 GMT)

Jun. 13th, 2005 -- According to Associated Press reports, a shoot-out took place on the parking lot of Six Flags America Sunday evening, June 5th.  No one was hurt with the exception of one man who was cut by broken glass.

Details are few, however, it has been determined that an argument broke out between the occupants of two vehicles on the lot which escalated when each vehicle's occupants took out handguns and began shooting at one another.

While no one was hit with a bullet during the brawl, broken glass and other debris from ricocheted bullets caused one man to suffer minor cuts.

Six Flags America employs the use of metal detectors for entrance to the the park itself, but nothing to detect such weapons being brought onto the parking lot.

This is such a sad thing to hear about. Too many sad things like this are happening.

I'd really like to know what the arguement was actually about and how they would have solved if there had been no guns in the cars.

What is really sad, is that I don't see things like this getting better, only worse.

Its amazing how some argument in a parking lot can escalate to this level. It seems that when people get annoyed or agitated, that they HAVE to fight back instead of ignore the other person. Also one more note... why were the two people bringing guns to SFA in the fdirst place? Was something bigger planned?

I hadn't read up on the story that so I'm surprised to learn that both men had guns and were shooting. I guess this shows what kind of people go there. I'll have to wear a bulletproof vest if I ever go there.

Responding to bcwrocks...why were they bringing guns in the first place? Unfortunately, it's the area that the park is in...Prince George's Co., Maryland -- just outside Washington, DC...lots of that "type" of activity occurs all around the area.

HE HE HE HE. Anybody surprised by this or wondering why people brought guns to SFA has OBVIOUSLY not been there. It's a bit of a war zone. I hit that park 10-15 times a year, I would suggest a bit of protection when going there. Remember the best defense is a good offense, and dress heavy, if you know what I mean.

On a positive note: The Coaster Zombies Pitch Black ERT there is one of the best ERT events all year. Make plans to be there!!
