News: Man ejected from Steel Pier log flume

Jun. 20th, 2005 -- The man, who's name and condition have yet to been released, was ejected after his boat hit the empty basin on the log flume. The rest of his family remained in the boat and suffered minor injuries. 

The Big Splash log flume is closed pending further investigation into the incident.

OK...how does this even happen?!?!?!? Was there a sudden hole in the basin that drained all the water?

This is very strange. How can you run a long flume with no water in it? I guess not very well.
