That's a great idea. Only problem is I see people going and buying cheap fireworks just to get into the park for free.

The law isn't enforced that well. More fireworks are shot off in this area than there are cops. Actually, the fireworks should equal the value of the amusement park pases. So someone turning in a box of sparklers (which are illegal) can't get the free passes. You can read more of the specifics here:

This is also a way for the park to get free fireworks to shoot off for the fourth lol.

Fireworks are illegal in many states. Most northern states don't allow them.

Fireworks are also illegal in Santa Barbara County. Everyone just drives down to Ojai, about an hour away, buys them there, and brings them back up anyways.
I wonder how many people partake in this turn-in?

Pennsylvania does not really restrict you on what you can use, its what can be sold. My dad always used to go down to Virginia when they had no laws on fireworks use and buy bottle rockets and firecrackers. The only things you can't use are fireworks outlawed by the National Government like M-80's and Cherry Bombs. I think this is a good idea because fireworks could start large fires and injure more than just the user.

Thank god I live in TN, where I still have the freedom to shoot fireworks (An American Tradition) on Independence Day. :P

$2.99 for a pack of bottle rockets sounds like a cheap ticket to Six Flags to me.
I find that in Maryland, the actual crackdown on fireworks is different from county to county. Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties are generally the most strict. While the laws are the same throughout the state, the rural areas tend to get a "look the other way" treatment. Unless of course you are damaging other people's property or endangering other folks.

LOl! Canonballer, but the park doesn't get the fireworks and they don't hand out the free tickets. You have to go to the fire department, turn your fireworks in and then get a free ticket. I suspect the success is marginal. If the park was givign out to many free passes, they would change to discount coupons or the fire department would change to some other incentive. You have to look at it from the angle, would tickets to an amusement park be enough of an incentive for someone to turn into $40 worth of fireworks. It works just well enough for the fire department to say it's a successful program without drastically affecting SFA bottom line.
Fireworks are illegal in the counties surrounding Washington, D.C. and D.C. itself because of the proximity of homes to one another and the massive number of people you have living within a square mile. It's just not safe to do it in a neighborhood with 1000's of homes. It still happens though, there are a few counties in VA where it's still legal to sales, posess and distribute fireworks.

Fireworks except for the milder kinds are illegal in North Carolina.
But you can just drive across the state line to South Carolina and get the big boys. lol
Although that is illegal too of course, but the fireworks place across from Carowinds does quite well from all the NC drivers. lol

The last time I checked it was still legal in certain VA countie, in fact, I think there's a stand across of PKD. I also know of a couple of stands on 301 before you get to the Nice Bridge over the Potomac.

Hey! There is a fireworks store right outside of King's Dominion too. Being a conspiracy theorist, I think something is up! Two Paramount parks, two fireworks stores. ...and PKD just happens to be an hour from Six Flags America. Is this mereley happenstance?? I THINK NOT! Give me time. I'll come up with the whole sordid scandal.
