Aug. 15th, 2005 -- Although rain forced the groundbreaking ceremony for Wild West World to relocate to the dining hall of a nearby ranch, spirits were high as construction on the western-themed amusement park officially began. In front of a packed, standing-room-only crowd, park developer Thomas Etheredge talked about his vision for the park. In addition to 25 rides, the $17 million park will feature all kinds of Western entertainment and a variety of Old West crafts and exhibitions. Slated to open in May of 2007, Wild West World will operate from May to September and is expected to draw up to 280,000 people in its first year.
