News: The Curse of Sleepy Hollow Is Alive

Posted at 10:05 AM EDT (1405 GMT)

Sep. 20th, 2005 -- DOSWELL, Va. - This fall, FearFest returns to Paramount’s Kings Dominion, transforming the park into the Mid-Atlantic’s most terrifying Halloween-themed experience, complete with spine-tingling scare zones, menacing mazes, and frightening attractions.  FearFest begins Saturday, October 8 and continues weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) through October 30.

New this year, the chilling legend of the headless horseman comes to life in The Curse of Sleepy Hollow, a terrifying new scare zone located in the dark woods of the park’s Old Virginia section. Guests who brave the horseman’s Curse must try escape through the Blood Shed and Headless Hollow, two all-new haunted mazes.

In addition, FearFest marks the return of the park’s famous haunted mazes, including Freakshow in 3D and the Maze of Madness, as well as the Paramount Theater thriller Friday the 13th: Jason’s Extreme Cuts—a fear-filled tribute to Paramount Pictures’ celebrated slasher saga.

Kings Dominion’s quaint Antique Car ride takes a wicked turn each evening when it transforms into FearFest’s new R.L. Stine Fearstreet. This year, the park also introduces Fun House Express and Elvira’s Superstition, two frightfully fun motion-simulator movies experiences in the Paramount Action FX Theater.

The fear is not just contained in the park’s five mazes. During FearFest, brave guests must venture through terrifying fear zones and avoid the many scary “stalkabouts.”  Shrieks and screams aside, guests may howl out their favorite song at Skaraoke or ride their favorite Kings Dominion attractions… in the darkest dead of night.

While the attractions of FearFest bring out the scares at night, families and children may still enjoy Halloween fun. During daylight hours, age-appropriate FearFest fun awaits little ghouls and goblins in KidZville. Pint-sized guests will enjoy a monstrous good time chatting with Patch the talking pumpkin, located in the KidZville Gazebo. Fun awaits them in the all-new Hay Maze, the interactive Boo’s House and the Witches Cave. Throughout the day, they can meet their favorite Nickelodeon characters, pose for photos and receive Halloween treats with no tricks during Nick-or-Treat.

FearFest shows and attractions are free with general park admission or with a Season Pass. Some FearFest attractions are not appropriate for all ages.  FearFest begins on Saturday, October 8 and continues weekends through October 30. Operating hours are 10:30 a.m.–11:00 p.m. on Saturdays (October 8, 15, 22 and 29) and 10:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m. on Sundays (October 9, 16, 23 and 30).

For more information about FearFest, guests can call Paramount’s Kings Dominion at (804) 876-5000 or visit the park’s web site at KingsDominion.com. Paramount’s Kings Dominion is located 20 miles north of Richmond, Va. and 75 miles south of Washington, D.C. off Interstate 95 at Exit 98.

Paramount’s Kings Dominion is a 400-acre theme park that’s home to more than 200 rides, shows and attractions. The park brings the best of Hollywood entertainment to the Mid-Atlantic with one of the largest coaster collections on the East Coast; two children’s areas—Nickelodeon Central and Kidzville; and WaterWorks, a 19-acre water park playground that’s included with admission.

Paramount’s Kings Dominion is owned and operated by Paramount Parks, a unit of Viacom Inc.
