Hmmm... World's largest plug-n-play woody? lol
Sounds like they are really trying to get this park up to where SFMM is (as far as rides and such).
It makes since with Philly next door and New York not far away. That's a huge population to draw from.
I wonder if they killed the guy in Germany or whereever it was that leaked this coaster before Kingda Ka opened. lol

"Record-breaking" is a very vague term. It could mean 1 (or more) of any number or records: tallest, longest drop, steepest drop, greatest length, most inversions, most air-time, longest ride time, most tunnles, ... the list is endless.
However, with the words "monsterous" and "enormous" used, I tend to think that the broken record(s) include height, length, and/or drop length.
It could be VERY possible that in 2006 SFGAdv will hold the records for the tallest and fastest steel and wooden coaster. Correct me if I'm incorrect, but I'm pretty sure NO park has EVER held both of those records at the same time.

PKI had Beast (tallest woodie) and Vortex(tallest steel) at the same time. ;)

Something tells me this coaster is going to break the steepest drop record with a drop of 75 degrees. :D

Yeah because you can't let a park from WI have a record for more than a year.

I hope a Devil is monstrous enough.
A new children land may bring the park more consistant with the original park creator's view. They do need to go after Mom, Pop and the families. Mom and Dad work at the pharmaceutical company or take the train to Philly and New York. They bring in the cheese Six Flags need rather than pay check of about the cost of a season pass a teen makes at his first summer job.

Just something that makes me laugh.. Andrew said that a monsterous coaster makes him think of record breaking, etc..
Just remember: Hydra is a "monster coaster" or whatever they said in the Dorney commericals..lol
I am so excited about this ride. I'm thinking tallest and fastest...

This is actually VERY surprising that Great Adventure is getting a new coaster next year, because for the past 10 years or so they built a new coaster every other year, meaning they werent due for a new coaster until 2007. But hey im not mad, they are overdue for 2 types of coasters..a good wooden one and a record breaking stand-up. Hope to see that stand up in 2008. Great Adventure is the most visited Six Flags (NOT Magic Mountain) park and they are starting to make a statement on why too. I'm proud of them.

The only issue that I have is that Rolling Thunder is a great ride, but exceptionally rough. It's sad, that they're getting a new wooden coaster when they don't maintain their existing woodie. Not to mention that Rolling Thunder doesn't seem to be a popular ride amongst the general public. That, and the fact that their carousel is in such a poor state, that it was depressing to ride it. It seems to me that Great Adventure needs to put more attention into upkeep and maintainance than into new rides.

Six Flags Magic Mountain also was home to the world's tallest steel and wood coaster for a brief period back in 1978 - Colossus at 125' and Revolution at 113'.

What really gets me is that they built Kingda Ka with a hefty price tag, and they are building a new coaster the next year. And with Intamin. Not to say there is anything wrong with their woodies (I haven't ridden one and I only hear good things about them), but I know Kingda Ka has its problems just as Dragster still does. CP is still sinking fortunes into Dragster. I would think they might be upset with Intamin (even though Dragster was a bright red flag already) and not deal with them. I am very excited about this ride, but can they afford it? Have they really paid off Kingda Ka, or gotten it's worth yet at all?
