Can we say scrap metal? This is such a shame. At least the parks are working hard to keep them up as much as possible. I pitty them though. It has to be so hard and frustrating to fix them over and over and over......

Launched into the brakes? I think you should check your sources, as I've read in many places (including the news paper) that the casing that holds the launch cable and car came up when a bolt broke, smashing into the bottom of the train as it launched, and flying parts and stuff tore up the brake fins. The fins had to be custom made by Intamin and shipped over to GAdv, and apparently (from what I've heard) they discarded the bolt mold so they couldn't reuse those, but they wanted to make newer, larger ones anyways so that's what they went with.
That's too bad about TTD though. I hope whatever's wrong with it can be prevented on KK.

After a higher editorial review, it was changed to better wording.
Keep in mind this was written by someone who normally does not write these news items, and technically, they always "launch into the brakes".

On the home page it says " !do! to another mechanical failure."
I flaged the problem down with !!.
How many days do they have left of the season anyways?

It's a shame to have seen them go through all the effort to get it up and running and then have it run for hardly no time at all. I wonder what happened this time, and if they will just replace the part or redesign the components that have been causing issues these past two breakdowns.

I really hope they can get these 2 running consistenly.
I understand that anything that is launching that fast will have problems, but this has been going on for the 2 years of TTD's existence.

It is ashame that this has happened yet again. All the effort and it was only running for one weekend. I expect there to be problems with KK and TTD but hopefully Intamin will work them out in a short amount of time. It would be nice if they both ran like any other coaster with minimal downtime.

CP got a lot more bang for their buck with MF...
I wish CP can get this sucker working consistently. It's been open for nearly two seasons, and is still malfunctioning. That sucks...

OMGz, t3h comma splice!!111!!!!
Man, this sucks.
TTD was down when I went in 2003, and so was KK when my friend went in 2005. It seems the strata-Accelerators are bound to have major problems in their first year of operation. TTD was pretty reliable last year and earlier this year, so that's good news for KK.
Maybe a park will manage to have a strata-Accelerator that doesn't have a lengthy breakdown in its first year. But probably not.

So much for people criticizing Six Flags for having KK go down this summer... Imagine if it was July at CP.

Well those people that bashed KK will hide for now and not comment on this situation. That is how the fanboy's work.

^ Wow, your comparing this breakdown to KK's, lol. There is only two weeks left in the season so what is the use of even trying to get it open? KK broke down in the middle of the summer, that's why people bashed it. TTD has been fairly reliable up till now, but who cares, the season is over at the end of the month. Figures SFGAdv fanboys would have to spark an attack once again.

I am in no way sparking an attack. I could care less which one broke down when. The are both two absolutely mazing coasters that I show no partiality to. Your argument has some faulty points in it anyway. It doesn't matter when it breaks down. If it is in the summer or in October it is still a breakdown. Why should some one bash it if it is the summer but not if it is in October. I don't get that one. It is not the parks fault. TTD just re-opened from a breakdown so in essence it has been down for a month or so.
And please don't call me a fanboy. I would never associate myself the idiots that are fanboys.

Coasterdude, I wasn't referring to you as the fanboy, it was the person who posted above you who kinda had to make an attack at TTD when it's not in a good state.
And yes, would you rather have a coaster break down for two months in the middle of the summer when parks are more busy, or two weeks before the season is over when parks don't draw many crowds in besides locals? IMO, I think it'd be a waste to try to get it open now. But the fact of the matter is, it's been open for most of the summer and hasn't had that many major breakdowns, where Kingda Ka broke down shortly after it opened...to bash TTD because it broke down at the end of the season is stupid because it has been running all summer compared to KK. So really, it does matter when it broke down, because your letting more park guests down when it closes for two months in the middle of the summer compared to two weeks before the season ends.

EastCoastn, I'm going to make this simple.
One, I'm not a SFGadv Fanboy. I've been there only three times in my life, not nearly as many visits as at other parks in the area. I'm anti-stupidity, not a fanboy. It's your fanboyness for anything not SF that makes you think I'm a SF fanboy.
"Don't kick TTD while it's down." What were you and CP fanboys doing all summer when KK was down? At least KK has an excuse- it's new. And it doesn't matter WHEN it broke down; the point is, neither's reliable. Just calling the CP Fanboys out. I hope TTD is up and running soon, it's a great ride. My point was, people unfairly criticized Six Flags for the same problems. Are you too blinded and biased to see that?
Furthermore, I only wrote one sentence with ellipses. You're the one who wrote a poorly thought-out essay about the TTD/KK feud.
And finally..exactly how did anything I say insult TTD?

This is TERRIBLE!!! Theme Parks need to know how to work a Stratacoaster before opening them.

I've learned it takes about three years for just about any new coaster.
1. unreliable break -in year
2. a year of adjustments
3. more reliable, little to no problems
I base this on watching Volcano and Hypersonic. That's at least the formula they used at PKD. Sounds a bit long to me, but these are 25-30 million dollar investments. I think they are long term items that deserve to be given the time to get right.
As far as the TTD/KK battle going on: They are both the same roller coaster!! Give or take a few feet and a bump at the end.
