Industry Announcements: Disney World sponsorship means new exhibits

Posted at 7:19 PM EST (0019 GMT)

Nov. 9th, 2005 -- Disney and tech company Siemens AG have signed a 12-year corporate sponsorship agreement. Beyond simply putting the Siemens name on certain attractions, the deal will create a new one. In the Innoventions building at Epcot and Disneyland Siemens will help put together a new exhibit that will showcase the company's technology and let visitors try it out.

The Siemens name will appear on Epcot's firework show as well and on various parades which have not been sponsored in the past. Siemens will also replace AT&T as the sponsor of the Spaceship Earth ride. AT&T, which sponsored the ride from 1982-2003, did not explain why it was not renewing the agreement.

If they sponsor Spaceship Earth, they better take down that darned wand... that looks so out of place in Future World.
