Nov. 10th, 2005 -- Messengers of the Healing Winds Foundation donated half a million dollars that will go to HAPI's Sustain the Park campaign to pay down the park's debt.
There are still numerous unresolved details pending on the contribution, which is expected to be attended to by the Arnolds Park City Council and the Natural Heritage Foundation.
The $500,000 gift which is to be received in a lump sum, will reduce a starting debt a little over $2 million to about $520,000, according to fund-raiser Sue Richter. The donation is also expected to reduce interest by about $30,000 a year.
"A total of 472 contributions to date range from $5 to $500,000 and all the funds go to reduce the debt," Richter said.
"The gift from the Healing Winds Foundation shows people have confidence in the park and the board, again," noted board member Joe Conover. "They wouldn't have given us their money if they didn't think we were moving in the right direction."
