Industry Announcements: Six Flags Great Escape Lodge announces attraction names

Posted at 5:21 PM EST (2221 GMT)

Nov. 10th, 2005 -- LAKE GEORGE, NU - Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark officials announced Thursday the names of the attractions, amenities and eateries that will comprise New York’s first hotel with an indoor waterpark. The announcement was made as Lodge officials offered a sneak peek of the interior of the property, including a first-ever look at the Adirondack-style lobby and fireplace, the massive 38,000 square foot structure that will hold the waterpark’s eight primary attractions, and several rooms that will be among the 200 suites available for guests.

Open year-round, the property will include a massive multi-level play structure with nearly 160 interactive elements, including a beach-like setting, to be called the Tall Timbers Treehouse. The waterpark will also feature Boogie Bear Surf, a unique FlowRider attraction that allows guests to experience the excitement and thrill of carving turns and riding simulated waves.

Located at 89 Six Flags Drive, across from The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom, near Exit 20 of Interstate 87, the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark is expected to redefine the vacation experience for winter enthusiasts and summer tourists to the Lake George region beginning in February 2006.

“Today, we are excited to unveil the official names of several of our waterpark attractions and guest amenities,” said Lodge General Manager Daniel Williams. “We’ve selected many of the names to reflect the woodsy, Adirondack theme of the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark. The names dovetail with the rustic charm of our property, ensuring for a unique and memorable stay for skiers and snowboarders, fall foliage seekers and guests who visit The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom theme park between May and October.”

Other waterpark features include: the Tak-it-eesi-Creek, a themed adventure river with inflatable tubes; an activity play lagoon with access to the themed adventure river called Lott-a-watta-Bay; Tip-A-Kanu-Beach, a shallow activity pool designed specifically for children; Soakum Springs, a hot tub where guests can escape the harsh winter temperatures among inviting palm trees and sultry, tropical conditions; the Avalanche family raft ride that simulates a white water rafting adventure; and Glacier Run and Snow Shoe Falls, a pair of tube-shaped water slides that offers a thrilling ride through tunnels of loops and curls.

The Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark will be serviced by the Trapper’s Adirondack Grille, formerly the Adirondack Coach House restaurant, which will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Lodge will also feature a snack shop called the Birch Bark Grill, as well as a coffee cart appropriately named Coffee Corner.

The Mohican Ballroom, ideal for meetings, weddings and special events, will be located in the lower lobby of the hotel and will seat up to 300 patrons (the ballroom can be divided into three separate banquet rooms - the Iroquois, Huron and Algonquin). Three conference rooms have been named Old Hickory, Red Maple and Golden Birch. The facility will also contain the Star Light Arcade and two gift shops, Northwoods Traders and the Gitchee-Goomee Gift Shop, which will be located adjacent to the waterpark.

The décor of the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark will further reflect the hotel and waterpark’s beautifully scenic Adirondack setting. The hotel’s grand two-story lobby will be outfitted with rustic beams, two fireplaces and comfortable seating. Of the 200 suites, 180 one-room family suites will feature two Queen-beds, plus a pull out sofa or a bunk bed to accommodate up to six guests. The remaining twenty suites will each have two rooms and will accommodate a minimum of eight guests through a variety of room layouts.

The Lodge is offering a special, introductory rate of $189 per night for a limited number of four-person suites, subject to availability. The rate includes unlimited use of the indoor waterpark. The special offer is available through April 30, 2006, for a one-room family suite with two Queen-beds and a pull out sofa. Each of these suites can accommodate two extra guests for an additional $15 per person.
