Nov. 14th, 2005 -- The new $200 million dollar Georgia Aquarium project in Atlanta, GA will greet its first customers on November 23, 2005. The 500,000 square-foot attraction will officially become the world's largest aquarium with 8 million gallons of water and more than 100,000 freshwater and saltwater fish as well as other aquatic life on display.
The big headlining attraction at the aquarium is a 6 million gallon tank featuring the only Whale Sharks on display outside of Asia. Whale Sharks are the largest species of fish in the world - capable of growing up to 45-feet in length. The aquarium's two juvenile whale sharks in addition to five Beluga Whales, and countless other aquatic species aren't the only aquarium's highlights. The new project includes a 4-D movie theater, and a banquet hall with a 1,100 person capacity. The aquarium has already sold more than 40,000 annual passes - with 8,000 sold on the first day they were available. Visit CBS 46 Atlanta to view the complete original article.
