Just in case you are not familiar with X-Scream and what 90-minutes of being stranded meant to those passengers, here's picture of it in action - http://www.dan-and-amanda.com/honeym...es/P1010277.jpg

Didn't this happen with their other contraption earlier this year?? They should get a better fuse box.

It's not the fuse box- and getting a new one won't do squat if there isn't any power flowing to it. The generator would seem to make sense, though they would have to find a place up there to put it.
Seems like a manual system to get it back into place would be obvious- especially after the incident with the other ride earlier.

I thought that all rides had some kind of manual or secondary power source for just such occasions. Looks like Stratosphere cheaped out on these rides. That is abolutely ridiculous. While I would have loved to have been on it, it is just obsurd that this actually happened, and TWICE in the same place!

Here's a link to the other story where one of their rides got stuck off the side of the building.

I went on the other one that had become stuck. That stopped because of high winds, not loss of power. Either way, they scared the hell out of me and I can't imagine that torture for 90 minutes.

Read the lie in the 2nd to last paragraph.
30mph to 0 on this? Don't sound like anything fun.

That would be a bit scary at first, but then I would be fine with it. And before anyone flames me and says OMGz! yo liar!!! Just know, when we lived in Vegas my grandpa worked at the Stratosphere and I've been up on top many more times then many of you ever will. (I've even launched Big Shot).

X Scream is a new generation of extreme thrill rides, playing on the passenger's primal fear of falling. However, passengers can find comfort in the ride's four independent locking mechanisms on each chair and titanium restraining bars. X Scream also has a manual return mechanism in case of power failure.
Riiiight, why didn't they use it then?
