News: Historic Dorney Park building was torn down yesterday

Posted at 12:18 AM EST (0518 GMT)

Nov. 17th, 2005 -- The oldest building in Dorney Park, dating back to the 1880's - the Mansion House Hotel & Restaurant, fell to the wrecking ball today.

Park management had considered renovating the building, but spokeswoman Heather Kramer said its age and condition made the work too expensive.

''We had no choice but to tear it down,'' Kramer said.

Of course, Cedar Fair hates history and has already done this multiple times to Dorney Park. It is disgusting and one of the reasons I despise Cedar Fair.

/ And to Knott's Berry Farm as well. Who can forget the beloved and historic Haunted Shack - which to date, its whereabouts are still being inquired about by visitors. Little would they know an S&S pay-per-ride Screamin' Swing now stands in its place. :(

This building was falling apart. I am sad to see this building go, but the building is falling apart. It isn't structurally sound. I walked through the unused floors and saw for myself.

Dont judge a building till you see the inside.everyone does that and gets mad when they knock it down.if cedar fair tears down old buildings for no reason then how come breakers is still up?its more easyer to tear down and build then it is to remodel a old building due to a whole bunch of codes they have to go by now adays.and the cost and health and safety of others.

History is fine, and actually one of the main reasons I travel to parks, but slnewbus is right, that building was in tatters.
