News: Rides arrive at Wild West World

Posted at 7:09 PM EST (0009 GMT)

Nov. 21st, 2005 -- The park isn't slated to open for another 18 months, but the first ride is already on its way. The cowboy-themed Wild West World in Park City, KS, will receive it's first ride this week, a 50-foot-tall log flume.

The park's other rides will be added in summer. Wild West World officials will spend $10 million to purchase rides, including two roller coasters, from Chance Morgan and Zamperla. Sewer lines and storm drains have already been installed.

The $17 million theme park is scheduled to open in May of 2007.

This is really coming along. I have a feeling this will have a high potential potential to growing into a major park in the future.

Have to say I'm impressed. When I first heard about this park, I thought it was another one of those "pie in the sky" dreams that never had a chance of happening. But here it is, with the first rides arriving. I really like it when I'm wrong and eating crow about something like that.

Hoping for big success for it. They've come through a heck of a lot to get to this point. In many ways, it should actually be easier from here on out. Good for them!

I'm glad to hear that is actually happening since so often proposed parks don't become a reality. It will be a slow start for them since they're only getting a few rides but I wouldn't expect a huge park right from the start. Hopefully in time, it can become a cool bigger park.
