News: Dan Snyder ousts Six Flags mascot

Posted at 4:11 PM EST (2111 GMT)

Dec. 6th, 2005 -- It's the end of the line for Mr. Six. Dan Snyder, the newly-chosen head of Six Flags, plans on getting rid of the quirky dancing octogenarian who has served as the company mascot in recent years.

The move to get rid of Mr. Six is part of Snyder's overall plan to shift the company's attention from teenage thrillseekers to children and families, whom marketing experts say Mr. Six doesn't appeal to. Snyder says he plans on creating partnerships with businesses such as cartoon studios.

What a crock of $hit.....Mr Six RULES!! We should start a petition.
And I saw mention of:

"shift the company's attention from teenage thrillseekers to children and families"

not good news for us thrillseekers

THANK GOD!

I hated MrSix from day one... It was almost like a slap in the face to have the ONLY MR SIX themed ride at my "home" SF park...

I just wish this happened sooner so I wouldnt have to look at his ugly face on my 06 seasonpass :(

He didnt apply to children and families my *ss. I never really liked him, but my younger counsins and parents loved the commercials, they always turned the TV up when they saw him.
Snyder sucks.

I really don't have an opinion about Mr. Six being gone. Sure, it was a unique concept, but it's not going to break my heart to see him go. What does anger me is the remark made in the article about Mr. Snyder wanting to "rebrand the Oklahoma company so it better appeals to children and families... ...that means steering away from 'thrill-seeking teenagers'..."

Part of me is actually interested in seeing the end results of his decision. Once he sees the numbers (in attendance and dollar figures) drop dramatically, maybe he'll realize the huge mistake he's currently making. WE WANT OUR THRILLS!!! If we don't get it at Six Flags, then we will get it elsewhere.

I'm not really upset to see him go, it didn't matter to me either way...but I thought I read that (especially after the first year), the Mr. Six thing worked out really well for them.

It is a very good thing that Mr six is going. He was unbelievably annoying. Remember, Snyder is trying to make the park appeal more to families. That means that he is going to shape up these parks. These parks are a mess as they are and Mr Six is a great example of how they put advertising over the actual park experience. Snyder is going to shape up this company. I am very happy that he is fixing this troubled company.

/ Mr. Six being unbelievably annoying doesn't stray away from the fact that his persona and the Six Flags brand that goes along with it sticks firmly in your head, like any brand mascot is supposed to do.

Ronald McDonald is incredibly annoying and creepy just the same, but you don't see kids running away from him. Kids love that clown.

The only good thing I see coming from the Snyder plan is bigger money.. Less big thrill rides and coasters = More money saved and another year between rides = Better bigger rides for families not the stereotypical SFMM. thats not gonna happen anymore So HAHA all you SFMM lovers who hate CP and mock them over coaster count! LOL!.

Mr.Six was cool but he got a bit, Creepy..

I didn't like Mr. Six, but he brought in a lot of crowds. It just caught many people's attention to see an old guy dancing like that, and the classic tune was catchy too. I loved walking into the park at opening and them blasting that song at 10:00 exactly. Very bad move, he thinks he can turn this into a Disney-esque company, full of childish rides and stuff. I'm glad that they announced 4 new coasters at least, we know he can't stop those from going up.

I have the feeling that Dan Snyder has a personal issue with thrill-seeking teenagers, the way he abruptly wants to end this roller coaster building spree. I hope that GAdv gets its three other Intamin coasters at least.

But yea Dan Snyder is a Nazi.

Typical Enthusiast replies about this being the end of Six Flags as you know it. How about taking one of those what and see what takes place. You never know...this could be just waht the chain needed.

I just wonder how many new thrilling coasters SFMM will get after Tatsu. I don't care about the rest of Six Flags, only SFMM.

Thank god -- and Snyder -- that Mr. Six is history....and hopefully so is the worst slogan in Six Flags history. Bring back the Looney Tunes and Batman as the animated representatives of Six Flags!

I hink this is a bad move because Mr. Six keeps Six Flags in your head. Every time you think of SF, you think of their funny old guy dancing. It sticks in everyones head and that is what a logo/mascot is supposed to do.

When I work at the LINC for the Birds-Skins game New Years Day, I'm sure we'll send an "ASSSShole" chant his way.

I will miss the commercials, although I have not seen them for a while. At least I still have the song available. I hope that Snyder can help increase attendance but I hope he still will add good rides.
