Dec. 29th, 2005 -- A Christmas tree in the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel caught fire around 3 a.m. PDT Wednesday morning. The fire prompted the evacuation of 2,300 guests to the hotel's convention center. Two people sustained minor injuries.
A spokeswoman for the Anaheim Fire Department said that the fire was caused by the electrical lights on the 35-foot-tall tree. She said the hotel sustained moderate damage from water and smoke, but not enough to prevent guests from returning to their rooms within a few hours. Disney said it would conduct an investigation.
