Six Flags AstroWorld may have closed last October after 37 years of operation, but there is still the opportunity to own pieces of the amusement park. Beginning on Friday the park will hold a three-day auction of AstroWorld's equipment and memorabilia ranging from the practical to the purely nostalgic.
The most popular items are expected to be signs from the Greezed Lightnin' and Thunder River rides. The various pieces, which fill several buildings at the park, range from sewing machines and steel tables to a life-size fiberglass steer. Even a few of the rides are up for sale, including Greezed Lightnin', bidding for which is expected to start at 750 thousand dollars. Visit Chron.com and the official auction website for more.
