News: Rides being stored at The Great Escape

Posted at 6:15 AM EST (1115 GMT)

Jan. 9th, 2006 -- Steel supports, long lengths of tracks, and cars for an inverted roller coaster and a water flume continued to arrive on large trucks Friday at The Great Escape parking lots on Route 9. A park employee, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed that the equipment arriving on site belongs to the Serial Thriller and Tidal Wave rides that once operated at the now defunct Six Flags AstroWorld park in Houston.

While it is natural to assume these two rides are being brought here for installation at the Queensbury amusement park, The Great Escape Marketing Director Jennifer Mance said the park is merely holding on to the parts until corporate officials from Six Flags decide what to do with them.

"We are storing the parts, but the future plans for those rides have not been announced," Mance said.

As of Thursday, no plans for new rides at the park have been submitted to Queensbury or Warren County planning agencies. Approval for installation of the new rides would require local government approval.

"Great Escape would announce changes to the park, like a new roller coaster, only after corporate officials give them the OK," Mance said.

Ok... We all know this is bull... Like anyone would really think the SF is going to move the 2 rides to NY from TX... to move them to say.. CA....
EVERY SF owned park in the area of TGE (BUT TGE ITSELF!) has an Invert AND Splashboat now as it is! SFDL,SFNE,SFA,SFGAdv, LR... Hell even add SFOG if you want!
So... Why would you move a ride to a park without the 2 to an area where ALL the other parks have the 2 style rides as it is.. Just to move them to some other park....

This makes me laugh because a lot of coaster tools are eating crow right now.

I like James find it hard to believe they would ship it all the way to the park and not install it there or somewhere closeby.
