Feb. 9th, 2006 -- Although CBS has put the Paramount Parks division up for sale, King's Dominion officials are saying that it will be business as usual this year, and that there will not be many changes at the park. At least not this summer.
Spokesperson Susan Storey said that the focus right now is on the upcoming opening, with a new coaster, hiring summer employees, and preparing to have a great year. It is not the first time that the park has been sold, and in the past there were not many changes at the park operations level. None are anticipated at this time either.
According to a recent CBS statement, the division is a great asset to the company, but no longer fits within the vision that the company has for the future. CBS has said that numerous parties have shown interest in purchasing the parks, but no specific bidders or purchase amounts have been given.

There's also been no mention about licensing to keep the current park characters (I'm sure Hanna-Barbera characters will survive no matter what), ride themeing (recent rides like Tomb Raider and Italian Job, and things like that...would CBS REQUIRE a licensing agreement? That would be the smart thing to do...

When I talked to the ride ops mgr, he said that they are still planning movie themed rides up until 2008. At least it's still on the drawing board that way. I think the Hanna Barbara stuff is on it's way out, or at least it's getting less and less as the Nick stuff is taking over. Which is a shame, I LOVE Yogi's Cave or whatever they call it now. I've been going there since 1975, and have seen everthing happen to that park. I think they should bring back the singing forgs an d mushrooms.
