News: Santa Cruz considers new ride

Posted at 5:32 PM EST (2232 GMT)

Feb. 9th, 2004 -- A 125-foot double shot is being planned to replace the Red Baron ride at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. This comes 8 years after the council turned down a 180-foot tall drop tower.

The planning commission actually turned down the new ride because it would spoil the view of the surrounding area (and is nearly 55 feet taller than anything else in the park). However, Seaside Co., who are planning the attraction, made an appeal and so it will go before the City Council on Tuesday.

For more details, see the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

I hope they approve this. But 125 feet isn’t very tall for a double shot.

For a double shot, that's the standard height, I believe.
