News: Expedition Everest welcomed in Times Square

Feb. 15th, 2006 -- The opening of Expedition Everest at the Animal Kingdom theme park in Walt Disney World may not be for another two months, but Disney is starting the celebration early. Today Disney put on its "Everest in the City" performance in New York City's Times Square.

The festivities featured aerial acrobats performing between two billboard hundreds of feet in the air flanking Times Square, all set to special effects and an original score. A video of the event will be available on AOL's CityGuide website and visitors to the site can enter a raffle to win a trip for four to Animal Kingdom and tour the ride.

Expedition Everest is currently giving certain guests sneak-peek rides. It opens to the public on April 7.
