News: Pokemon theme park to open in Taiwan

Posted at 5:12 PM EST (2212 GMT)

Feb. 26th, 2006 -- Japan based Nintendo will be launching a traveling amusement park that will open in Taipei for a three-month run starting in June.  The park, which was temporarily built last year to coincide with the World Exposition in Nagoya, will have rides based on the company's popular Pokemon series.  Nintendo is aiming for the park to draw a total of 1 million visitors after 4.5 million visited the park during its half-year run in Nagoya.

After its stay in Taipei, Nintendo is considering moving the park later and have it make appearances in the United States, Europe and Shanghai.

I would say 'Too Late' to the Hello Kitty park, except that myriad Japanese parks have something themed to Hello Kitty, rather than one park having everything themed to that group of characters.
