Posted at 9:14 PM EST (0214 GMT) Feb. 10th, 2004 -- A 350 pound, 7 foot long baby killer whale was born at Sea World Orlando's Shamu Stadium on Monday.
Kalina the Killer Whale gave birth to the baby whale. This was the 12th time that a baby whale has been born at Sea World Orlando, which has the most successful breeding program in the world. Nineteen whales have been born at Sea World parks in the United States. The gender of the baby has yet to be determined. Kalina herself was the first killer whale born and successfully raised in captivity. Since then, 19 other whales have been born in what has been deemed the most successful killer whale breeding program in the world. To read more, visit WKMG Local 6.
